If ever there was a time to dress up and get crazy, it's … well, right about now. You can join the rest of the gothic drag queens, vaudeville vixens, and gender-bending clowns who populate Frolic, the annual circus/drag/burlesque festival that offers entertainment-starved audiences more gaiety than your typical holiday revue. Replete with performance artists spreading seasonal cheer through magic and illusion (particularly of the gendered variety), Frolic includes the multidisciplinary treats of all-male troupe, Boylesque, whose choreographed moves dip into cabaret and German expressionism alike. Twilight Vixen Revue, a troupe of queer showgirls, spread mischief with pasties, bawdy tunes, and strategically placed feathers, while celebrated faux drag queen Fauxnique follows suit with her cheeky theatre of couture. Clowning, trapeze, and other enchantments -- like the operatic punk rock of hosts Jessica Fudim and Carrie Baum (of performance duo Dreamboat, Where Are You) -- round out the holiday goulash.
