A Muse Meant

Two known entities, Instant City magazine and local writer and vegetable enthusiast Sarah Fran Wisby, pique our interest in "Mixed Muse: A Celebration of Words and Music," but several unknowns also intrigue us. Instant City's focus on intelligent fables of San Francisco, fictitious and non-, make it a favorite, a little jewel in the crown of independent Bay Area literary publications. (Also, we can't help it; we are suckers for anyone professing an interest in psychogeography, as editors Gravity Goldberg and Eric Zassenhaus do.) Wisby's been published in Instant City, as a matter of fact. The alternately joyous and deadpan voices in her short stories thrive on the wit delivered by her large brain, and on her deep visual study of the world around her. As for those individuals and groups we've never met: Marcos Soriano, Alia Volz, Dustin Heron, and bands Lazarus and Si, Claro are local luminaries all, with Pushcart Prizes, rad music pedigrees, and molto publications among them. We look forward to getting acquainted with them.
